Activities and Events

Our Activities Co-ordinators are passionate about creating activities and entertainment for our residents, which meet their individual interests and group activities which encourage social interaction. Currently, we are not able to offer the wide selection of outings that we would plan with our residents. However, we are looking to the improving weather which will enable us to start getting out and about, enjoying the fresh air in our garden and local area.

Our Activities Coordinators role is all about making memories with our residents, enabling them to continue to grow and develop new interests, as well as supporting and encouraging them to participate in interests and hobbies they have always enjoyed. We recognise the importance of  maintaining residents’ mental well-being through ensuring they have a meaningful life at Weymss Lodge. We see the Activities Coordinators role as pivotal.

We have invested in our Activities Coordinators and trained them to a nationally recognised standard with the Daily Sparkle Training and use of the PAL Instrument, which is recognised as an outstanding approach, including Life Story Work.

The Activities Team encourage  our residents to take part in a varied programme of enrichment both in the lounge areas, off-site and in resident rooms. Activities include trips, singing, Bollywood and line dancing, on-site singers and a wide selection of in-house arts and crafts. A few examples include, residents creating their own cards and tea light holders to sell at our Summer Fun Day, Christmas Winter Wonderland shopping day and resident networking groups, visiting and writing to residents in other local care homes.
